American Idol kicks of its 9th season tonight on Fox with a 2-hour season premiere, featuring all the behind the scenes footage from the Boston auditions. There are plenty of reasons to tune in this season, but the biggest reason came from an announcement made yesterday. Simon Cowell announced that “this will be [his] last season on American Idol” so he can focus on bringing his show, X Factor, to the states in the fall of 2011. Simon said he is very excited to be bringing another great show to Fox’s lineup and even hinted that we may get a chance to see a Paula-Simon reunion when the show premieres. …

Friday I’ll Be Over U Premiere

It’s Confirmed! Idol has a new judge!
It has been confirmed that Ellen DeGeneres will be the official new judge on the new season of American Idol. She made the announcement yesterday that she will be joining the judges panel as the voice of the people when the show premieres in January. Straight OUT, Now Tell Me
While it hasn’t been officially confirmed by 19 Entertainment, it looks like the future for our beloved Paula Abdul is clear. Her management released a statement regarding the rumors that the once Dance-Diva would not be returning to the ninth season of American Idol. In a statement, her manager, David Soneberg, said, “Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on Idol.” At this time no contracts have been offered for renegotiation and Fremantle and 19 Entertainment have yet to reach out about a renewal.
