Rihanna Asks Nashville’s Mikky Ekko to "Stay"
It’s no secret that Nashville is packed full of talent, but while most of the attention that falls on Music City is reserved for its Country royalty, the city has earned major street-cred in other genres this year as well. In fact, Rolling Stone magazine named Nashville the nation’s Best Music Scene early this year and GQ featured the city’s scene in an 8-page editorial spread. Rockers Jack White, Kings of Leon and The Black Keys all proudly call Nashville home, as does pop’s Ke$ha and a slew of well-known singer-songwriters. So when it came time for the Princess of R&B to look for talented folks to appear on her latest record, it…

First Listen: Lana Del Rey "National Anthem"
When you saw this post you probably thought either:a) holy smokes, enough of Lana Del Rey already, orb) hell yes! Just post the whole album already! Only weeks until the release of Born To Die, the debut album from Lana Del Rey, and another track arrived this morning in my inbox. This time, it’s the record’s final track “National Anthem”. No, it’s not the country’s patriotic tune, nor a take on the Radiohead masterpiece. The track does in fact have an anthemic hook (“Tell me I’m your national anthem”), but the verses are Ke$ha inspired talk/rap combined with Del Rey’s signature pouty vocal. Listen to the track below and stay…

Britney Spears: Femme Fatale
With only a week remaining until the reigning Princess of Pop, Britney Spears, drops her seventh studio album, you can already hear the music industry’s most well-oiled machines greasing up to embark on the next era in the entertainer’s career. Yet with so much personal turmoil and public scrutiny it’s hard to remember some of the professional highlights from the seasoned star, who’s closing in on 20 years in the industry. One thing that is not hard to forget however, is the formula. Each of the last six Spears albums delivered…

Idol Recap: Top 16
What is there to say about the Top 16 showdown on last week’s American Idol? It was all wrong — everything from song choice to the hopefuls that got the boot. The girls kicked off the week with a mild “bang”. Most of the ladies failed to make any kind of impression, including Paige Miles, who butchered “Smile” the same way she’s ruined every other song she’s chosen over the past three weeks. And Katie Stevens, once a front-runner, proved she doesn’t have what it takes to take the title. But sadly, neither of those ladies were sent packing, instead it was the most unique contestant, Lilly Scott, and Katelyn…
