What The GIF? Vol. 5
Memorial Day is upon us, which means the pools are ready for splashing (and peeing), white pants are back in season (is that still a thing?) and people are gearing up for a 3-day weekend (does anyone know why we actually celebrate this holiday?)! To kick start yours, V for Vetrano is bringing you another installment of What The GIF?, a countdown of the Top 10 things that run through my head on repeat all day long and keeping me up at night. The past few weeks have delivered some hilarious moments, which made narrowing it down to the top ten quite a challenge. But sorting through thousands of well-crafted…

Bruno Mars is the Unorthodox Jukebox
Bruno Mars, the R&B crooner that brought us the massive smash singles “Grenade”, “Just the Way You Are”, “Marry You” and from the Twilight soundtrack “It Will Rain“, drops his sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox today. Judging by the album’s successful lead single “Locked Out of Heaven” it seems Mars isn’t facing the dreaded sophomore slump with his new release. The album -a riskier, grittier take on his signature sound- offers 10 sexually charged and perfectly selected tracks. Since his debut Doo-Wops & Hooligans, Mars has impressed critics and a growing loyal audience with his genius blend of vintage and modern. Delivering his tracks with throwback choreography and production, then mixing it with…

Grammy Recap
Last night marked the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards live on CBS. The performances were great, the acceptance speeches were short, and the house was packed with A-List stars. While the rumors that Britney Spears would perform turned out false, yet again, the starlet did attend the ceremony and the night had some great performances. Some of the highlights included Green Day‘s “21 Guns” as it will appear in the upcoming stage production American Idiot, P!nk‘s aerial performance, Black Eyed Peas and Lady Antebellum singing their hits “I Gotta Feeling” and “Need You Now”. My favorite performance of the night was the 3-D tribute to Michael Jackson featuring Carrie Underwood, Celine…

The Grapevine
A lot of news to report in the world of music and I’m pleased to say a lot of it is in the name of charity. With the devastation continuing to overtake Haiti, celebrities across the board are putting their names, brands, and money towards the cause. For music fans, that means we’ve got a lot of great charitable music to buy. The Hope For Haiti compilation, live recordings from the telethon, is the biggest selling album this week, also making it the highest selling charity CD of all time. Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris‘ version of the song, “Hallelujah” from the telethon is the most downloaded song on iTunes…

Re-Crap!
The night, that I USED to wait all year for disappointed…again! Maybe it’s because the cable station that claims to be Music Television hasn’t shown a music video in over 5 years, but it was one of the most disappointing nights in music! The show kicked off with a tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, which definitely delivered some amaze-balls dancing and Janet rocked it, but it didn’t really live up to its hype. Madonna gave a very “unique” intro speech about the very little she knew about him and then reminded us he was a human being. Then, the first award of the night, Best Female Video,…

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!!
Tonight is one of my favorite nights of the year! The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards kick off at 9pm Eastern. Be there as Lady GaGa, Cobra Starship, Beyonce and possibly Britney Spears take the stage. And tonight will also feature a once in a lifetime tribute to Michael Jackson by none other than his sister, Janet. This is your warning not to miss the event. And if you do, I’ll have all the highlights here tomorrrow.

Paying The Bills and Respect
Immediately after news broke that Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, had passed away work began on this tribute song, “Better On the Other Side”. The song, featuring The Game, Chris Brown, Diddy, Polow Da Don, Usher, Mario Winans, and Boys II Men, will be the first of many tributes to the late music icon. The song leaked to Internet by Friday morning after the news broke – it came together awfully fast. Check out the song’s video, edited by Taydoe.
