Wednesday Wrap Up: Is Adam Lambert a Queen?
A lot happening in the music world this week, but today’s biggest story caused quite a stir on the net this morning. It was reported earlier today that Adam Lambert, the controversial vocalist who emerged from American Idol a few years ago, was coming to to be legendary rock band Queen‘s new frontman. On the heels of Lambert’s new solo single and a sophomore album in the works, it seemed it couldn’t be true. And later, Lambert confirmed it was in fact untrue. His quote had been used by a “sneaky” reporter to build a story. More on that story, as well as the Top 5 stories of the…

Wednesday Wrap Up: No Del-Rey About It
Ok, so as promised yesterday I am going to stop – er, try to stop – posting about the songstress who as of late has made the front page of Tragic Kingdom and taken up lots of space in your RSS Feed. So… I won’t mention that her album hit number one more than 11 countries upon its digital release and I won’t explain that critics are beginning to back track on their post-SNL tongue lashings. No, I refuse to do it. Instead however, there’s lots of other relevant news going on this week in music… right?Check out the top 5 stories of the week: 5. Elton John wages war…

First Listen: Madonna
With the announcement of a new album and tapped as this year’s Halftime Show entertainer at the Super Bowl, Madonna is preparing to kick off 2012 with a bang. Though not as heavily placed in the public eye this last year, the Queen of Pop has kept herself busy: launching a new clothing line (her second), planning a series of ‘Hard Candy’ branded fitness centers, directing her second film, W.E., which debuted at the Venice Film Festival, and recording a new record, which is slated to drop in March. The album’s first single is expected to hit sometime in late January, just in the time for the Feb. 5th performance at…

Hop Aboard the Neon Trees Train
Over the last few years, the band Train has delivered some delicious, radio-friendly ear candy (cue “Hey Soul Sister”), but when I saw the boys perform with Martina McBride at the CMT Crossroads event here in Nashville, I was blown away by Pat Monahan‘s very real talent. This morning, when I woke up to discover that Lady Gaga‘s new single “Born This Way” is really just an updated version of Madonna‘s “Express Yourself”, I found this little treat in my inbox. It seems Tragic Kingdom isn’t the only mega-Neon Trees fan. Train covered the band’s hit, number-one single “Animal” with a very cool acoustic performance that is already making its way around the…

Lady Live
Lady GaGa was the musical guest on last night’s Saturday Night Live, hosted by Ryan Reynolds. The Ga performed a hot new rendition of her current single, “Paparazzi”, as well as a medley of her hits including, “Love Game”, a New York inspired version of “Poker Face”, and her new single, “Bad Romance”. Unfortunately the medley performance featured an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction, but we expect that from GaGa. But it was the surprise cameo by Madonna that made the episode so classic. We love to see the two battle it out somewhere other than the charts. Check out Lady GaGa on SNL:

Re-Crap!
The night, that I USED to wait all year for disappointed…again! Maybe it’s because the cable station that claims to be Music Television hasn’t shown a music video in over 5 years, but it was one of the most disappointing nights in music! The show kicked off with a tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, which definitely delivered some amaze-balls dancing and Janet rocked it, but it didn’t really live up to its hype. Madonna gave a very “unique” intro speech about the very little she knew about him and then reminded us he was a human being. Then, the first award of the night, Best Female Video,…
