    Artist To Watch: Fairground Saints

If you haven’t yet heard the name Fairground Saints, you’re going to want to familiarize yourself with the music from their recently released self-titled debut album. The Los Angeles trio, made up of Mason Van Valin, Elijah Edwards and Megan McAllister, are equally talented songwriters as they are performers and musicians. I recently got a chance to chat with FS about their music, how they became a band and working with notable producer Matthew Wilder on their LP. Fairground Saints are bringing their alternative folk pop on the road, as they make their way across the US on a fall tour. With an upcoming stop at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley on October…

Music Monday: Amanda Valentine’s Soft Fall

Amanda Valentine is celebrity fashion designer and Listen! It’s Vetrano contributor, regularly writing her advice column ‘#AskAmanda.’ This week Valentine steps into the driver seat of ‘LIV’ regular series Music Monday to share some of her favorite fall music.  As a rabid, obsessive lover of music –I’d be in a metal band right now if I wasn’t a fashion designer– I give you some of my go-to fall jams.  Some of the songs are old favorites, some are new finds. This is a “drive with the windows down for a little while longer” or “turn on and do some work” or… whatever, this playlist rules! It starts out with RJD2, a favorite of mine for decades now —…

Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival Recap

The Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival took over The Park at Harlinsdale in Franklin, TN last weekend. While the weather could have been, the inaugural festival’s lineup couldn’t have been any better.  Steven Tyler, Willie Nelson, Wilco, Weezer, Sheryl Crow, Cage the Elephant, and Band of Horses were just a few of the names to grace one of three stages at the two-day festival. A daylight-hours festival — sets began before noon and ended by 8pm both nights — transformed The Park At Harlinsdale Farm into a musical oasis complimented by food and culture offerings. The mood was not that of a night time festival, allowing the music to trump any other typical late-night antics. The threat of rain remained…

#AskAmanda: Romantic Ruts & Fall Fashion Tips

Hello internet! My name is Amanda Valentine. I’m a fashion designer, wardrobe stylist (fall fashion!) and amateur astrologist. For as long as I can remember, I have also been a giver of advice. When I was in elementary school, I stood by a specific tree during recess and would dole out my view on pressing preadolescent issues: boys, fashion, what to get for lunch, who knows… (what were our problems back then?!). People knew where to find me each day and I reveled in providing a logical impartial view. I’m also a classic Gemini, which means I always see both sides to an issue and I love to communicate. From that tree at recess…

    Nashville Notables: Avo RAWks

When I first got wind that Jess Rice was opening Nashville’s first raw food eatery Avo, I could not wait to try some of the treats I’d seen featured on her blog My Poor Tired Liver. Following her journey from the –often times unhealthy– music industry lifestyle to a raw food chef and aficionado, Rice had seemed to master a variety of unique recipes that peaked my interest. So naturally when Avo opened its doors, I was one of the first in line to get a taste of their inventive menu. Walking into the basic, upscale cafeteria-styled space, I was intrigued at the items on the debut menu. My group ordered a salad,…
