Video Premiere: Tim McGraw "Highway Don’t Care"
They say what comes around, goes around. And by “they,” I’m sure you know I mean Justin Timberlake. The debut of Tim McGraw‘s new video for “Highway Don’t Care” seems to prove that popular lyric’s sentiment. You probably remember it wasn’t long ago that the young blonde country phenomenon known as Taylor Swift burst upon the music scene with her first single “Tim McGraw.” Now, with the addition of Keith Urban, the singer teamed up with the man she paid homage to years ago. The single off McGraw’s Two Lanes of Freedom record has been racing up the country charts and now, with the addition of a dramatic new video the single will…

Take 5: Josiah Leming
Before Josiah Leming hit the road for his 75+ city ‘Listen Close Tour’, I sat down with the singer to chat about his music, life on the road and what’s next. Then, once we got the traditional stuff out of the way, I asked him to Take 5 and give us the dirt on 5 things unrelated to his music. Take 5 with Josiah Leming1. What is your go-to karaoke tune? When was the last time you performed it? Take Me Home, Country Roads – John Denver. Hmm..November 2012? Somewhere around then. 2. What’s the cheesiest reality TV show you’re afraid to admit you watch, or have watched? Cheesiest? Hmm…..…

Maroon 5 & Kelly Clarkson Stronger Together
Unless someone is playing a really cruel April Fool’s Day prank on me, this summer is going to be hot! This morning it was announced that the annual Honda Civic Tour would pair pop-rockers Maroon 5 and America’s Idol (and mine) Kelly Clarkson. Anyone else hyperventilating?! The Adam Levine led rockers just stopped in Nashville last week with Neon Trees and, although the show was sold out, they are skipping the market on the next go-around. Guess Amanda Valentine and I will be hitting the road to Atlanta. Maybe we’ll capture it all on video, so you can see how the fashionista sister of M5’s James Valentine travels in style? Check out the list…

Take 5: Liz Davis
She won the hearts of thousands last year on NBC’s The Voice, where she represented Nashville on Team Blake during the series’ third season. Since then, Liz Davis has been bringing her own brand of sass and kick-ass country to Music City. If you missed my two part interview with the singer with the big ole pipes from earlier this year, catch up now (part one / part two). And now, Davis is kicking off Tragic Kingdom’s newest segment: Take 5. We all love to know what inspires our favorite stars and want to know what – or who – is behind the lyrics of our favorite songs, but you…

Listen! It’s Vetrano!: Reality Hits Nashville
As a blogger in the digital age, I have the pleasure of sharing my thoughts and musical recommendations with thousands of people that I know personally (and intimately *wink, wink*) and others of whom I probably will never get the chance to meet. For those of you in the second category, I’m sorry I’ve neglected to introduce you to my highly inappropriate and snarky side. The side I’m most proud of, really. Since the New Year, I’ve had the pleasure of talking to many of my readers in Nashville about what they want to see on this space. That’s when “reality” hit me. So without further ado I introduce the…

Interview with YouTube Sensation Tyler Ward
Last week, I “introduced” YouTube sensation turned mainstream pop-rocker Tyler Ward to my Tragic Kingdom readers. Ward, who released his latest video over the weekend (watch Tyler’s version of Hunter Hayes’ “Wanted” here), is finishing up the national leg of his world tour. The tour is his first in promotion of his first original-tuned EP Hello. Love. Heartbreak. Tyler took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to chat with me about his new original music, what he’s got planned for the holidays and what it was like when he first realized he was becoming a star. Interview with Tyler Ward Chris Vetrano: You just released a new EP of…

Video Premiere: Taylor Swift "I Knew You Were Trouble."
Country phenomenon Taylor Swift released her 23rd music video for the single “I Knew You Were Trouble.” today, which conveniently happens to be her 23rd birthday. The video portrays a grittier, rougher version of the Taylor that Swift fans have come to expect from her, documenting a turbulent relationship over the dubstep track. As an obvious fan of indie-darling Lana Del Rey, it’s clear to me that Swift’s latest desert-themed video draws heavy comparisons to Del Rey’s “Ride,” which I drooled heavily over this summer. Despite the comparisons, and without picking one over the other, the darker Taylor is a welcomed change. Watch Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.”…

Interview with The Voice’s Liz Davis, Part I
Living in Nashville and working within the music industry, it’s not uncommon that I meet, befriend or work with a lot of the artists who I end up featuring on this site. Over the next few months, I will be rolling out a ton of new content allowing you more personal introductions and access to the hottest emerging acts in music. This first artist is no exception. Earlier this week in a local Music City coffee shop, I got the chance to sit down with Liz Davis, the feisty country crooner who showcased her powerful pipes on this season’s hit NBC series The Voice. Read part one of my interview with…

Rihanna Asks Nashville’s Mikky Ekko to "Stay"
It’s no secret that Nashville is packed full of talent, but while most of the attention that falls on Music City is reserved for its Country royalty, the city has earned major street-cred in other genres this year as well. In fact, Rolling Stone magazine named Nashville the nation’s Best Music Scene early this year and GQ featured the city’s scene in an 8-page editorial spread. Rockers Jack White, Kings of Leon and The Black Keys all proudly call Nashville home, as does pop’s Ke$ha and a slew of well-known singer-songwriters. So when it came time for the Princess of R&B to look for talented folks to appear on her latest record, it…

Artist To Watch: Steve Moakler
It isn’t often (in Nashville especially) that you go to a show and the entire audience is quietly captivated by the performer on stage, but when Steve Moakler took Douglas Corner’s on October 16th he did just that. Debuting a variety of tracks so new that the ink hadn’t yet dried on their page, the audience listened intently to each lyric and note as if children listening to a story before bed. It’s clear at that moment they realize the person on stage has something of significance to say. A blend of country and alt rock, almost raising question where he might fit on the spectrum, the tracks illustrate why…
