Interview with The CO
Photo by Sean Hagwell Readers of Tragic Kingdom are no stranger to the Nashville based pop-rockers, The CO. In 2011, I introduced the trio as an Artist to Watch and later in the year premiered their single “Camo” first on the site. Then, earlier this year, Tragic Kingdom was the exclusive destination to listen to the band’s sophomore record Keep It Together in full before its January 8 release. Almost two months after the release of the record, I sat down with Troy, Nate and Collin of The CO to talk about the new tunes, what 2013 has in store for them and what all those tweets about ‘COhorts’ mean to them.Interview…

Best Of 2012
It’s been quite a monumental year for the music industry. We lost one of the greatest voices of all time, while ridiculing a new one when Lana Del Rey emerged nervously on SNL. Adele proved that quality music still sells and Christina Aguilera illustrated that same theory later in the year when her album flopped. We became obsessed with learning to dance Gangam Style, while trying to get “Call Me Maybe” out of our heads. Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj fought for cameras promoting the new season of American Idol, while Britney Spears unenthusiastically coached her “teens” on The X Factor. Bubblegum pop returned with acts like Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato…

First Listen: The CO’s ‘Keep It Together’
It’s been almost two years since pop trio The CO dropped their self-titled debut album and first appeared on Tragic Kingdom. Eleven polished tracks including the uptempo standout “Frequency”, the longtime crowd favorite “Ok Ok” and the updated title track, which first appeared on their debut and was later recorded with YouTube’s Tyler Ward. The second effort delivers a more mature sound while maintaining their…

United For Joplin
The boys of The CO are at it again – using their gift of music to help heal the world one song at a time. Last week, the world was shocked with the news of the tornado that plowed through Joplin, MO, the lives it claimed and the devastation it left behind. In a joint effort with United Way, The CO is releasing a new single – a never before heard version of “Be OK” – through United for Joplin and donating 100% of the proceeds to the relief efforts. Troy Akers, from the band, said “we are so honored to give this song to Joplin in support … hoping it goes…

STREAM: "Camo" by The CO
As April kicked off, Tragic Kingdom introduced you to the latest crop of talent added to our growing list of featured artists. The CO is one of the most promising new talents featured since Neon Trees appeared on the site around this time last year. And if following in the same footsteps, it could be an exciting year for these pop-rockers. In the coming weeks, the band will be releasing a special packaged version of their new single “Camo”, which will include the original track, an acoustic version, a remixed take, and a brand new video to accompany the song. To close out the month, the band is giving Tragic…

Hollywood With A Touch of Twang
One of the best things about moving to a new city is discovering its local cuisine and the favorite hot spots of its residents. In Nashville, this means being in the company of some chart topping artists and well-known songwriters. Since my move to this great city, which was almost a year ago (WOW!), readers, friends and family have asked me my recommendations on my favorite spots in town. Although a bit of a detour from the music-related posts, I put together some of my picks to add to your itinerary if you’re planning a trip to Music City anytime soon. Start your day at one of the great coffee…

The single will be released digitally later this month, along with a whole slew of goodies from the band. And Tragic Kingdom is gearing up to bring you a little something special from Collin, Troy and Nate, as well. So, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and/or Facebook for updates, exclusive…
