Tragic Kingdom Presents: Andy Davis "Dashes"
One of the coolest parts about the music industry is when two artists come together to create an epic collaboration. Sometimes they result in the form of a great radio single-paring like when R&B’s Rihanna enlisted Nashville indie-rocker Mikky Ekko for her chart-topping single “Stay,” or when two of music’s juggernauts collide to make the world ‘move like Jagger’, like Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera did last summer. Other times the best collaborations are the ones that aren’t as widely talked about, the collaboration of two artists coming together to write a great song. In this case, two of the coolest emerging talents coming together on Tyler Ward‘s first EP of original tunes. If you’re not yet…

First Listen: Ryan Adams New Single
It’s been a hot second (and here in Nashville, I mean that a bit more literally than I had hoped) since I’ve updated you with some new tunes and the latest and greatest from the music scene. I promise when you see what’s to come you’re going to see it’s been well worth the wait. But, I still feel like I’ve left you to face this hot summer without any new music to cool you off. So as we start to dream of cooler times and the crisp air that fall is to bring, I bring you a glimpse of what’s to come with a first listen of Ryan Adams‘ new…

No Doubt Prepares First New Disc in a Decade
If it hasn’t become painfully obvious, my updates have been few and far between lately due to some exciting new ventures I am working on. And while I look forward to introducing you to them in the coming weeks, I am doing my best to bring you the most relevant and up-to-date music news as possible. Tragic Kingdom is active on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr (our micro-version of the site, which includes all our content from here and more from inside my crazy mind). And it’s there that you’ll find Rolling Stone‘s interview with No Doubt about their upcoming release.

Tragic Kingdom Presents: The Pretty Reckless Videography
From jaw-dropping goth rock to over-synthed pop beats and honky tonk country crooning to piano-driven rock hooks, it’s no secret that my musical influences have ranged all over the map this year. But when I introduced The Pretty Reckless last month, it was clear that I had inducted a new staple into the Tragic Kingdom family. Much like the inspiration for this blog, Light Me Up is an inspirational album from front to back. With Taylor Momsen leading the charge, the band delivers one of the most relevant albums of the year. But the question remains, why hasn’t America – the place where Momsen holds a lead spot on one of…

Artist To Watch: The Pretty Reckless
It’s late in the day, Sunday afternoon, and I realize I’m severely behind in introducing you to the latest featured artist in the Tragic Kingdom family. And it’s not that I want to keep you in the dark any longer, but every time I sit down to start typing away, I end up getting lost in awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping video clips and interviews from the latest addition to our growing community. If you had told me I’d be introducing Taylor Momsen to the site a few years ago, when she was just known for her role as the innocent-turned bad girl Jenny Humphrey on The CW’s Gossip Girl, I would have…

STREAM: "Camo" by The CO
As April kicked off, Tragic Kingdom introduced you to the latest crop of talent added to our growing list of featured artists. The CO is one of the most promising new talents featured since Neon Trees appeared on the site around this time last year. And if following in the same footsteps, it could be an exciting year for these pop-rockers. In the coming weeks, the band will be releasing a special packaged version of their new single “Camo”, which will include the original track, an acoustic version, a remixed take, and a brand new video to accompany the song. To close out the month, the band is giving Tragic…

Neon Trees Surrenders For Promotional Purposes
It looks like Neon Trees, who Tragic Kingdom named the Best of 2010, is going to have another big year. Their newest single, “Your Surrender”, is burning up radio stations all across the country including Radio Disney thanks in large part to the song’s partnership with Disney’s Prom movie which hits theaters at the end of the month. Don’t get me wrong, Neon Trees and Disney doesn’t quite scream “match made in heaven”, but I am far from calling Tyler Glenn & Co. sellouts. Think about the promotion that the folks at Disney put into anything attached to their name. No doubt this video will play in between a number…

Artist To Watch: The CO
Now that jokes and pranks have subsided, it’s time to introduce you to Tragic Kingdom’s featured artist for April. It’s not often that you stumble upon music that is so compelling and rich in content it moves you to action. However, when I first heard The CO, made up of Collin Brace, Troy Akers, and Nate Fleming, I was reminded of why I love this industry. The trio, who are joined by Will Harrison and Phil Snowden when they hit the stage, are a Nashville based band setting out to break the mold of the city’s stereotypical sound. In January of last year, the band released their debut self-titled album…

Exclusive: Tragic Kingdom Presents
Happy St. Patrick’s day! Today is a special day for Tragic Kingdom and not just because I have a special place in my heart for anything green. As you know, I designed Tragic Kingdom with the intent to expose exceptional new talent and create a place to discuss the industry’s biggest stars. Our latest artist featured, Michael Shoup, was excited to take part in a new project, I’m calling Tragic Kingdom Presents, that joins our featured new talent with those more well-recognized, but still tragically adored. This week also marks the 25th anniversary for the SXSW Music & Media Conference in Austin, Texas. As you might remember, it last year…

Exclusive: Behind The Session with John Edwards
Tragic Kingdom recently had the opportunity to stop by a studio session with our latest featured songwriter, John Edwards, to preview a few of the newest songs in his catalog. On February 16, Edwards along with Rich Redmond, Kurt Allison, and Tully Kennedy spent the day at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville laying down the tracks. The songs, which included “Bad”, “Our Summer of ’69”, “Stays In Vegas”, and “Your Best Move”, sounded great and with ‘the boys’ adding their hit-making spin, these soon-to-be classics should be burning up the airwaves in no time. Check out this video preview of the tracks, which also gives you a glimpse at what a day…
