Getting Your Sparkle Back With These Simple Steps
Listen, sometimes in life — with work, education, and family noise — we can lose a little bit of our spark. It’s small things that you might not notice at first. One morning you don’t manage to fit in your normal routine, or you find yourself slinging on the same outfit day after day. You might even find that when once you would wear bright colors and bold prints, that your confidence to do such things has lessened somehow. It can happen to anyone, at any point. Life sometimes has a way of getting in the way. If we are going to be real about it, it has happened to…

Woman Crush Wednesday: Camila Giorgi
As the 32nd best player on the WTA circuit, the Italian sensation continues to serve up the right moves both on and off the court! It’s a second Camila in our regular feature, as Camila Giorgi follows Camila Cabello as my Wednesday Crush Wednesday. In truth, I couldn’t look anywhere else. Camila Giorgi broke onto the tennis scene as a fresh-faced 21-year-old at the 2013 US Open. Five years later, she’s being tipped for a terrific 2019. This is after rediscovering her form over recent months to match her career-best WTA ranking at #30 in the world in September. Her accomplishments on the court include: As she prepares to turn…

Fitness Check-In: Off The Wagon
Hey all, it’s me again. V for Vetrano here to report on the fitness journey that you all joined me on a couple weeks ago, as I kicked off my commitment from #FatToFit. Thanks for the support btw! The first couple of weeks were good. I felt motivated, I showed up to Takes 2 Fitness regularly and even joined my friend Sara for a Sunday morning class (yes, I skipped brunch for bettering my body. What?!). Then something happened. Cafe Roze opened in my neighborhood, my best friend Cassadee Pope had a birthday and SHED Fitness kicked my ass. And just as fast as I was on the right track, I was…

Takes 2 Fitness: The Power Of 2
TAKES 2 FITNESS IS NASHVILLE’S PREMIERE PERSONAL TRAINING GYM, SETTING THE BAR HIGH FOR FITNESS IN MUSIC CITY I did it! I successfully kicked-off my first week towards fitness with the help of Takes 2 Fitness in Nashville. When I decided it was time to get in shape, I knew it wouldn’t be an easy feat and I would need the support from my friends, family and access to a well-established, highly-rated Nashville gym. Lucky for me, Takes 2 Fitness has three convenient locations in the Nashville area, one being a few blocks from my office. Score! This week, I visited their Downtown location three different times. Each time, the gym…

My Big Fat American… Body
Hey, it’s me again. No, not the informative and often hilarious (no commentary please) blogger from Listen! It’s Vetrano. It’s the voice from 2015 that reminded myself –and urged my readers– to ditch the ‘Fat Jeans‘ and get back into shape. Remember that voice? I hear it often and loud enough, so I assume you hear it on your end, too. From that 2015 holiday binge to now (2017), I’ve managed –with the help of carb overloading, gallons of rosé and countless hours of sitting on my ass, watching Housewives bicker– to reach an all time high in weight. A whopping 229 lbs fat, which is about 50 lbs from…

Fat Jeans
You know it, you loathe it. That dreaded moment when you reach in the back of your closet to grab the fat jeans you’ve been saving “just in case”. Then a few weeks later you realize that those fat jeans have suddenly become your skinny jeans. “Wait! Did I set the dryer too high?,” I silently convince myself. You’ve been there, right? Tell me I’m not alone in this. After a holiday filled with inappropriately shoveling food in my mouth as if my goal was to balloon up well beyond my goal weight, it’s time to put down the baked goods and carb overloaded delights and fit comfortably into my…

Bernstein Cares: The Year of No Sugar
A few months back, while scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon an account called @YEAROFNOSUGAR. The owner of the account, 17-year-old Phoebe, explained in her first post that based off of her experiences with the Whole30, [read here] and after having read the memoir by Eve O. Schaub, also entitled Year of No Sugar, she decided to recreate the project herself. No added sugar of any kind for an entire year. (Yes, this includes, honey, maple syrup, agave…everything.) At first, I thought, “Huh. That’s really impressive. I don’t even think I could do that…” Then my next thought was, “Of course I could do that. If a 17-year-old high school…

Bernstein Cares: Natural, Organic, & Free-Range… Oh My!
Hi again! This month I wanted to delve into a topic that can get really confusing, even for the most well-meaning food shoppers: food label claims. I’m a big proponent of reading the labels of everything you buy. It’s important to get familiar with ingredients, and how else will you know what you’re eating? (Note: in my personal opinion, it’s the ingredient list that is important, not the nutrition facts. If you’re eating whole, minimally processed foods, with a small number of ingredients, all of which you can at least pronounce, you won’t really have to worry so much about the calories and whatnot. Anyway, I digress…) Unfortunately, food manufacturers…

Bernstein Cares: ‘Whole30’ 101
Whole30: What is it, and what’s all the hype? Hello again! As I briefly mentioned in my first post, [read here] the Whole30, and the book that it comes from, called It Starts With Food, have been two of the most impactful tools that I have used on my own road to health. Two and a half years ago, coming off of my Titans Cheerleaders audition, it had been drilled into my subconscious that “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” Basically, the fewer calories the better, and egg whites and oatmeal (a ¼ cup) were staples. Between being fed that kind of information and my other issues with food,…

Bernstein Cares: First Things First
Hey everyone, Sara Bernstein here! Before we begin, let me just say how absolutely humbled and honored I am to have been invited into the wonderful Listen! It’s Vetrano family, and how excited I am to get to share something that I love so much with all of you. I want to dedicate my first post here on LIV to my story [you can read my bio here] to give y’all a little insight into who I am, how I got here, and why I’m so passionate about healthy living. I was only 17 years old when I left home and moved across the country to go to college in the big, oftentimes…
