Meghan Linsey: More Than The Voice

When Meghan Linsey reemerged on our television screens this spring as a contestant on NBC’s latest season of The Voice, many balked at the singer’s decision to tryout for the singing series. Her resume already included a win on a reality singing competition, CMT’s Can You Duet, and three Top 20 singles with her country duo Steel Magnolia. But what many seemed to forget was that, though her previous endeavors in music were thrilling, she was starting this journey on the same playing field as the many others hoping to turn a chair. Sure, she may have been a seasoned television starlet with opportunities to tour with major acts, including Reba, Brad Paisley and even her Voice coach Blake Shelton, but…

    Cassadee Pope is ‘The Voice’

As I predicted yesterday, Team Blake [Shelton]’s pop-rock diva Cassadee Pope was named the winner of NBC’s ‘The Voice’ during last night’s finale. Pope was a frontrunner throughout the course of the series’ third season with smooth vocal delivery and mainstream beauty. As promised, the finale was a star-studded spectacle with performances by Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, The Killers, Avril Lavigne and more. Each of the final three contestants took the stage with the stars in the 2-hour episode, as well as some of their fellow cast mates. Watch the Season 3 winner take on Imagine Dragons’ “It’s Time” with Liz Davis, De’borah and Melanie Martinez below and then head over…

    The Voice: Season 3 Finale

Last night the final 3 contestants on NBC’s hit reality competition ‘The Voice‘ had one last chance to win over America’s vote. Ultimately it was a one-horse race as season frontrunner Cassadee Pope separated herself from the other two with her epic performances of Faith Hill‘s “Cry” and a rerun of her season breakout “Over You” – a track that coach Blake Shelton penned with his wife Miranda Lambert. Shortly after the former Hey Monday frontlady performed the Lambert hit on the show, radio stations across the nation picked up her version as a single. The first time a contestant from the series has had this kind of mass appeal before…

Interview with Liz Davis (continued)Chris: The show is shot in Los Angeles and you spent a significant amount of time there this year. Which do you prefer: LA or Nashville? Why? Liz: I love L.A., but I’ve got to say Nashville. Nashville is my home, I’ve been here for seven years. I actually see some parts of L.A. in Nashville, but overall I prefer a small town. I’m a country singer and this feels more me. I love the beach and weather in…

Interview with The Voice’s Liz Davis, Part I

Living in Nashville and working within the music industry, it’s not uncommon that I meet, befriend or work with a lot of the artists who I end up featuring on this site. Over the next few months, I will be rolling out a ton of new content allowing you more personal introductions and access to the hottest emerging acts in music. This first artist is no exception. Earlier this week in a local Music City coffee shop, I got the chance to sit down with Liz Davis, the feisty country crooner who showcased her powerful pipes on this season’s hit NBC series The Voice.  Read part one of my interview with…

Cassadee Pope Looks Forward with her New Single

Cassadee Pope is no stranger to infectious melodies with pop-punk hooks. That’s why it’s no surprise that her new single, “People That I Love Leave,”  has all the makings of smash hit that will nestle deep in your eardrums for years to come. An ode to past lovers or relationships that have left her scarred from getting too close to those in her life, fearful that when she gets close they’ll “move on and forget about me.” The new track is Cassadee’s first to kick off her return to her punk rock roots, where she once fronted the popular pop-punk band Hey Monday.   Hey Monday released their debut album “Hold On Tight”…

    Nashville Notables: CMT’s Cody Alan

It wouldn’t be Music City without the city’s rich history in country music. And there’d be a lot less of it if not for CMT’s Cody Alan, delivering the week’s best country music and videos on his radio show, weekly video countdown series and other online platforms. A long time host on CMT and a staple in the country music genre for years, Alan shocked fans when he came out publicly early last year in People magazine. It was a monumental  step for a high profile face in country’s conservative music scene to talk about being openly gay. A step he doesn’t regret taking. I got a chance to chat…
