This week, music fans cashed in on the country craze, especially with the release of the newest effort from this month’s featured artist, Jason Aldean.  The totals are still being counted, but it looks like Aldean’s My Kinda Party is projected to move about 200,000 copies in its first week (not a bad start), debuting at Billboard’s #2 spot.  Taylor Swift‘s Speak Now will enjoy another week in the top position, projecting to move 350,000 in it’s second week. As promised, here’s the highly anticipated video for Neon Trees new single, “1983”, which premiered this morning.  The video, which pays homage to the 80’s film “Big” is the perfect way to cap the summer. Even with their current single sitting at the number one spot on the charts, Tragic Kingdom’s resident faves Neon Trees are prepping the release of their 2nd single, 1983.  The song, from their album Habits – and if you don’t have this album on your iPod yet, consider yourself ejected from the Tragic Kingdom – is going to have an incredible video to accompany it next week.  Judging by the teaser trailer posted below, the video will remain true to the Tim Burton-esque feel from the first video and is taking notes from one of my all time favorite movies, the 80’s classic “Big”.  If you haven’t seen it, stop…

The dynamic duo that once parodied their way into America’s hearts on Saturday Night Live “talkin’ it out on the Barry Gibb Talk Show” returned this week to the small screen.  Justin Timberlake appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote his movie The Social Network and they decided to kick it old school with a hip-hop medley that will blow your mind.  Watch the musical duo take on some of hip hop’s greatest jams below and then throw your hands in the air and wave ’em like you just don’t care.  

The Tragic Kingdom is all a-buzz tonight!  And it’s not from that baked good we found stashed in our suitcase left over from our SXSW trip in Austin, it’s much more stimulating.  Glee’s season premiere ended with this: Need I say more? In a world of botox, injections, and lifts, it seems photoshop editing is getting quite redundant. Doesn’t it? When I get an artist’s latest album artwork in my inbox, I now must proceed with caution.  The artists, who spend thousands on stylists, make up, and hair products, are wasting their money.  The product is so touched up, the subjects are hardly recognizable.  And the latest victims of this over-treatment is the latest crop of Christmas albums prepping release (yes, I am talking to you Mariah Carey – I couldn’t even bring myself to put that up here, but I am sure with a simple Google search, you’ll find it). The Underground Music Showcase, or better known to locals as The UMS, took Denver by storm this year as it celebrated its 10th anniversary. And after 10 years, the festival brought its best talent, biggest turnout, and most memorable moments yet.  It kicked off on Wednesday with Civil Twilight, Paper Tongues, and Neon Trees at the Bluebird Theater.  Tragic Kingdom favorite, Neon Trees, and my new friend, lead singer Tyler Glenn, set the bar for an incredible Denver weekend.  And once the festival began on South Broadway, it was non-stop madness.
