    Jason Aldean: My Kinda Party

    November 1, 2010 /

On the eve of his album release, Tragic Kingdom introduces a new breed to our growing list of featured artists.  He’s already sold 3.5 million records worldwide and has spent more time in the last 14 weeks at number one than any other country artist, but it wasn’t until I arrived in Nashville a couple months ago that I took notice of Jason Aldean.  I was sitting at a friend’s house listening to one of the tracks from his latest effort, My Kinda Party, and it was clear that this country boy was more than another Nashville wannabe.  In fact, this guy rocks. I got an advanced copy of the album…

    The Country Can’t Wait

    October 22, 2010 /

If it wasn’t apparent by my lack of updates recently, I should tell you that I have been quite busy.  Following a very successful run in Denver, I decided (yes, the decision was mine) to move to Nashville.  And since I’m now officially a resident of Music City, I am excited to introduce you to some of the incredible talent that this town has to offer.  Besides the great music you can catch on any given night of the week, the random run ins with my new neighbors, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, and the southern hospitality, Nashville is playing host to one of the biggest events in country music, the…

    Make Me Young Again

    October 12, 2010 /

Even with their current single sitting at the number one spot on the charts, Tragic Kingdom’s resident faves Neon Trees are prepping the release of their 2nd single, 1983.  The song, from their album Habits – and if you don’t have this album on your iPod yet, consider yourself ejected from the Tragic Kingdom – is going to have an incredible video to accompany it next week.  Judging by the teaser trailer posted below, the video will remain true to the Tim Burton-esque feel from the first video and is taking notes from one of my all time favorite movies, the 80’s classic “Big”.  If you haven’t seen it, stop…

Hip Hop and You Don’t Stop

    September 30, 2010 /

The dynamic duo that once parodied their way into America’s hearts on Saturday Night Live “talkin’ it out on the Barry Gibb Talk Show” returned this week to the small screen.  Justin Timberlake appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote his movie The Social Network and they decided to kick it old school with a hip-hop medley that will blow your mind.  Watch the musical duo take on some of hip hop’s greatest jams below and then throw your hands in the air and wave ’em like you just don’t care.

    Only 6 More Days

    September 22, 2010 /

The Tragic Kingdom is all a-buzz tonight!  And it’s not from that baked good we found stashed in our suitcase left over from our SXSW trip in Austin, it’s much more stimulating.  Glee’s season premiere ended with this: Need I say more? This is going to be an epic television event, one the Tragic Kingdom will certainly be tuning in for… I wonder how long baked goods last.

    The True Meaning of Photoshop

    September 20, 2010 /

In a world of botox, injections, and lifts, it seems photoshop editing is getting quite redundant. Doesn’t it? When I get an artist’s latest album artwork in my inbox, I now must proceed with caution.  The artists, who spend thousands on stylists, make up, and hair products, are wasting their money.  The product is so touched up, the subjects are hardly recognizable.  And the latest victims of this over-treatment is the latest crop of Christmas albums prepping release (yes, I am talking to you Mariah Carey – I couldn’t even bring myself to put that up here, but I am sure with a simple Google search, you’ll find it). What…

The 10th Annual UMS Conquers Denver!

    August 14, 2010 /

The Underground Music Showcase, or better known to locals as The UMS, took Denver by storm this year as it celebrated its 10th anniversary. And after 10 years, the festival brought its best talent, biggest turnout, and most memorable moments yet.  It kicked off on Wednesday with Civil Twilight, Paper Tongues, and Neon Trees at the Bluebird Theater.  Tragic Kingdom favorite, Neon Trees, and my new friend, lead singer Tyler Glenn, set the bar for an incredible Denver weekend.  And once the festival began on South Broadway, it was non-stop madness. Each venue delivered incredible sets, including the outdoor stage which featured some of my highlights, including Lilly Scott, The Rogue,…
