Maroon 5 & Kelly Clarkson Stronger Together
Unless someone is playing a really cruel April Fool’s Day prank on me, this summer is going to be hot! This morning it was announced that the annual Honda Civic Tour would pair pop-rockers Maroon 5 and America’s Idol (and mine) Kelly Clarkson. Anyone else hyperventilating?! The Adam Levine led rockers just stopped in Nashville last week with Neon Trees and, although the show was sold out, they are skipping the market on the next go-around. Guess Amanda Valentine and I will be hitting the road to Atlanta. Maybe we’ll capture it all on video, so you can see how the fashionista sister of M5’s James Valentine travels in style? Check out the list…

Video Premiere: Hot Chelle Rae "Hung Up"
The Nashville-formed pop band Hot Chelle Rae is gearing up for the release of their third studio record, which is expected to drop later this year. The lead single “Hung Up” hit radio back in February and has been working it’s way into the ears of their fans ever since. The boys have traveled all over the globe, opening for acts like Taylor Swift, Cher Lloyd and Lil’ Jon and seem poised for global domination. If the new single is any indication, the boys new record will follow the lead of their hits “I Like It Like That” and their smash hit “Tonight, Tonight” with catchy, sing-a-long choruses. The video…

Artist to Watch: Sol Cat
Would you believe me if I told you there was a new band with a cool sound that was worthy of your ears coming out of Nashville? Of course you would. And not only because Nashville was recently named the #1 music scene by Rolling Stone magazine. It’s no surprise considering the amount of talent oozing from this great city, so without further ado let me introduce to you to Music City’s latest noteworthy act Sol Cat. I got to sit down with a couple of the guys from the emerging rock band a few weeks ago to talk about their new album, new video (seen below) and where their name…

Tragic Kingdom Presents: Andy Davis "Dashes"
One of the coolest parts about the music industry is when two artists come together to create an epic collaboration. Sometimes they result in the form of a great radio single-paring like when R&B’s Rihanna enlisted Nashville indie-rocker Mikky Ekko for her chart-topping single “Stay,” or when two of music’s juggernauts collide to make the world ‘move like Jagger’, like Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera did last summer. Other times the best collaborations are the ones that aren’t as widely talked about, the collaboration of two artists coming together to write a great song. In this case, two of the coolest emerging talents coming together on Tyler Ward‘s first EP of original tunes. If you’re not yet…

Video Premiere: Five Knives "All Fall Down"
It’s no secret that I’m kinda (ok, totally) crushing on the electro-rockers Five Knives. But really, can you blame me? If you haven’t discovered the wonders of Five Knives yet, check out why I named them the artist to watch for 2013 and grab their EP free for a limited time. The EP’s first single dropped last week with the release of the compilation and today the band premiered their ultra-hip video for the track on purevolume.com. In the video, Anna Worstell and her boys do their thing in an abandoned warehouse while the coolest fucking roller derby goes on around them. I have plans to check out the Nashville Rollergirls this weekend and I…

Artist to Watch: Five Knives
Last year when Five Knives emerged on the Nashville scene with their electro-inspired punk rock, it was an instant connection for the wannabe club kid inside me. The pounding synth beats and attitude-dripping lyrics – delivered effortlessly by frontwoman Anna Worstell – had me hooked. A year of free music, introducing their fresh sound, on the band’s website filled my car, iPod and home speakers. It wasn’t long before the four (not five) rockers were playing all over town and one of the buzziest new bands to hit the music scene. Their energetic live show takes the whole package to the next level with Worstell fearlessly leading the pack, which includes Nathan Barlowe…

Listen! It’s Vetrano!: Reality Hits Nashville
As a blogger in the digital age, I have the pleasure of sharing my thoughts and musical recommendations with thousands of people that I know personally (and intimately *wink, wink*) and others of whom I probably will never get the chance to meet. For those of you in the second category, I’m sorry I’ve neglected to introduce you to my highly inappropriate and snarky side. The side I’m most proud of, really. Since the New Year, I’ve had the pleasure of talking to many of my readers in Nashville about what they want to see on this space. That’s when “reality” hit me. So without further ado I introduce the…

Carly Rae Jepsen burst upon the music scene in 2012 when her massively successful debut single became an international phenomenon. With a string of successful hits that followed and a spot opening for Justin Bieber on the Justin Bieber Live Tour, the “Call Me Maybe” singer seems to just be warming up. On January 18th, Jepsen will be stopping in Nashville with The Biebs and wants to meet YOU! Here’s how to enter and win from Tragic Kingdom…

Artist To Watch: Tyler Ward
It would be silly for me to try to introduce you to Tyler Ward because, with over 1 million subscribers and almost 315 million views, you’re more than likely familiar with at least one of the many covers he’s featured on his popular YouTube channel. If you’re a regular reader of Tragic Kingdom, you know that I grew up in a small suburban town outside of Denver, only recently transplanting myself to Nashville. If you’re one of the millions of Tyler Ward fans, you know he too hails from Denver; a fact that brought us together in the halls of our Highlands Ranch school long before his first video hit the…

Interview with The Voice’s Liz Davis, Part II
On Thursday, I posted the first part of my Nashville interview with The Voice‘s Liz Davis. If you missed it catch up here and then enjoy the conclusion below. Interview with Liz Davis (continued)Chris: The show is shot in Los Angeles and you spent a significant amount of time there this year. Which do you prefer: LA or Nashville? Why? Liz: I love L.A., but I’ve got to say Nashville. Nashville is my home, I’ve been here for seven years. I actually see some parts of L.A. in Nashville, but overall I prefer a small town. I’m a country singer and this feels more me. I love the beach and weather in…

Interview with The Voice’s Liz Davis, Part I
Living in Nashville and working within the music industry, it’s not uncommon that I meet, befriend or work with a lot of the artists who I end up featuring on this site. Over the next few months, I will be rolling out a ton of new content allowing you more personal introductions and access to the hottest emerging acts in music. This first artist is no exception. Earlier this week in a local Music City coffee shop, I got the chance to sit down with Liz Davis, the feisty country crooner who showcased her powerful pipes on this season’s hit NBC series The Voice. Read part one of my interview with…
