As I prepare to celebrate another year’s end, I can’t help but reminisce about the whirlwind year that has passed by so quickly. If 2010 brought one thing, it was great music. Some of the best albums of the new millennium’s decade popped up in its last year and I was there salivating over each and every note. This year also granted me access to some new discovery, as I traveled to music festivals across the country, including South By Southwest and The UMS, discovering bright new gems to add to my ever growing playlist. Happy Holidays!
Well, it’s that time of year again. Time to pack up a bag full of goodies and make the trek, along with the millions of others, to see the family. This year I am headed to Montana for some holiday cheer and home cooked meals. And if I know my Montana family, my holiday will consist of plenty of quality time with my three favorite wise men: Jim, Jack, and Jose. Let’s Go Back to 1983
As promised, here’s the highly anticipated video for Neon Trees new single, “1983”, which premiered this morning. The video, which pays homage to the 80’s film “Big” is the perfect way to cap the summer. Tyler Glenn and his crew deliver what is sure to be their next #1 hit. Make Me Young Again
Even with their current single sitting at the number one spot on the charts, Tragic Kingdom’s resident faves Neon Trees are prepping the release of their 2nd single, 1983. The song, from their album Habits – and if you don’t have this album on your iPod yet, consider yourself ejected from the Tragic Kingdom – is going to have an incredible video to accompany it next week. The 10th Annual UMS Conquers Denver!
The Underground Music Showcase, or better known to locals as The UMS, took Denver by storm this year as it celebrated its 10th anniversary. And after 10 years, the festival brought its best talent, biggest turnout, and most memorable moments yet. It kicked off on Wednesday with Civil Twilight, Paper Tongues, and Neon Trees at the Bluebird Theater. Tragic Kingdom favorite, Neon Trees, and my new friend, lead singer Tyler Glenn, set the bar for an incredible Denver weekend. And once the festival began on South Broadway, it was non-stop madness.
