Eat: Geist Joins Nashville’s Food Scene

    May 2, 2018 /

Geist Nashville recently opened its doors in Nashville’s popular Germantown neighborhood. When I heard, I could not wait to see how the historic location had been transformed. Since it’s recent opening, I’ve frequented the beautifully rustic brick restaurant several times. For drinks, for brunch, and for dinner. But before you go calling me an aficionado, find out why you should check it out below. Whether visiting Music City or have yet to try Nashville’s newest eatery, I’ve selected the top five reasons to visit Geist Nashville. 5 Reasons To Visit Geist Nashville The vibe: The spectacular restoration of the old blacksmith shop in Germantown’s thriving neighborhood is a must-see. The…

Cafe Roze in East Nashville is the Best All Day Restaurant

    September 12, 2017 /

When Bar Luca closed in my East Nashville neighborhood, I was devastated. Mostly because the lighting was perfection for photos, but the rosé on tap didn’t hurt either. Then Cafe Roze opened their all-day cafe just blocks from my home. Hidden deep on East Nashville’s Porter Road, Cafe Roze looked like it was the answer to my Bar Luca void. Score! Our first trip to Cafe Roze (pronounced like the flower, not the wine) was forgettable. The bitchy queen that greeted us at the door for our simple breakfast was unfriendly and his explanation of the wait times sent us packing up the street. I persevered though, unable to give up…

Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria Dishes It Up

    August 17, 2017 /

SLIM & HUSKY PIZZA BEERIA SERVES UP MADE-TO-ORDER PIZZA FROM IT’S FIRST NASHVILLE LOCATION IN NASHVILLE’S NEW BUCHANAN ARTS DISTRICT As a former resident of Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood, I like to follow the establishments popping up in that area. Especially when I can get my eat on. Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria has been on my radar for a while, but when it finally opened its doors in March I was skeptical that it was worth the long lines I’d heard were piling up down Buchanan Street. I was wrong. When I stopped by one day after work to experience the “life changing” slice of awesome, I arrived to a…

National Watermelon Day: Yay for Frosé

    August 3, 2017 /

Happy National Watermelon Day! It seems there’s (quite literally) a holiday for everything these days. Listen, I’m always willing to splurge on tacos and margaritas on their official national holidays (October 4th and February 22 for the record) because “why not?,” but others I can’t bring myself to acknowledge. For instance, do we really need a National Stuffed Mushroom Day?! They’re little round nuggets of mold, filled with breadcrumbs… and yes it exists, every year on February 4th. Mark your calendars. Today though, is National Watermelon Day. It may be just as useless and silly as those mentioned before, I love biting into a crisp, sweet, perfectly juicy piece of…

    Best & Worst of 2015

    January 1, 2016 /

Another year has come and gone. I don’t know about you, but 2015 was a crazy year for V for Vetrano. I spent most of it enjoying Nashville’s blossoming metropolis, continuing my fight to find balance between professional and personal and adding new faces to the growing LIV community. I learned a lot about myself this year [cue Ozzy Osbourne‘s “Changes”]. I started new jobs and ended old ones. Made new friends, while saying goodbye to others. And made life changing decisions that impact my future. While most of 2015 left me unsettled, hopping from one thing to another, the year’s final hours have turned out to be the best few weeks of the entire year and have…

    Nashville Notables: Avo RAWks

    September 14, 2015 /

When I first got wind that Jess Rice was opening Nashville’s first raw food eatery Avo, I could not wait to try some of the treats I’d seen featured on her blog My Poor Tired Liver. Following her journey from the –often times unhealthy– music industry lifestyle to a raw food chef and aficionado, Rice had seemed to master a variety of unique recipes that peaked my interest. So naturally when Avo opened its doors, I was one of the first in line to get a taste of their inventive menu. Walking into the basic, upscale cafeteria-styled space, I was intrigued at the items on the debut menu. My group ordered a salad,…

    Feys Lift: Starch Smartch

    August 3, 2015 /

Dieting is probably the worst possible necessity of the season, but I have finally come to terms with it. Well… not all of it, but most of it. There are certain things we can all cut out of our daily meals and snacks and not miss at all. Especially when there’s some easy to prepare starch alternatives that are easy on the hips and don’t sacrifice the flavor. Here are three that I have created to mimic some of our favorite treats and will leave you saying “Ohmigah.” Baked Kale chips are better than potato chips. Seriously Cut your kale into bite-sized pieces and evenly cover in olive oil or vegetable oil. Salt…

    Best Burgers: Nashville

    March 22, 2015 /

When you’re in search of the best burgers in Nashville, V for Vetrano comes to your rescue. As a self-appointed burger aficionado, and after many visits to the best (and worst) dining in Music City, I often get asked about where to eat. A tough question when you’re dealing with picky eaters with tons of dietary or preferential restrictions. But there is one thing that never fails: burger places. So long as the menu offers a vegetarian (typically a black bean) burger option, you can always turn to the American classic. As Nashville grows and new dining options pop up on each block corner, it might be tough to decide which ones are…

Hollywood With A Touch of Twang Pt. 2

    February 25, 2015 /

When I moved to Nashville almost five years ago, I was a bright-eyed, celebrity obsessed music lover that was anxious to explore all that Music City had to offer. After the first year of settling into my new home, I broke from my music-related blogging (on my music blog Tragic Kingdom) to provide readers with some of my favorite Nashville hot spots and places to add to their itinerary if bumping into country music royalty was on their list of things to do. In fact, it may have been that very post that led to the creation of Listen! It’s Vetrano and the more Lifestyle, Nashville-focused blog you’re reading (and loving, no doubt) today.…

Butchertown Hall: Welcome To The Neighborhood

    February 24, 2015 /

When Butchertown Hall previewed their menu last Spring at a neighborhood gathering, I was thrilled at the thought of a beer garden that served up delicious pork tacos — the option they were serving at the event — joining me in the growing Germantown area. So I anxiously awaited Butchertown Hall’s September arrival, but due to building delays and permit issues, the restaurant’s opening was delayed several times. Finally, on Valentine’s Day, the restaurant and beer garden opened its doors. A labor of love, no doubt. Having to put the stamp of approval on my new neighborhood haunt, I made my way in last Saturday for dinner. The beautifully designed interior was packed full of…
