8 Liberating Reasons To Enjoy Whatever You Want

Everyone has those days where they feel that their sparkle has gone and they will look for solutions to get their sparkle back. The problems come a little later when you feel comfortable in your routine again. They become distracted with what other people want them to do, and this means they lose sight of what makes them happy; what keeps them looking forward to what comes next.

So what’s the solution? Instead of listening to others and doing what they ask, people should think a little more about themselves. This isn’t to say completely ignore other people’s needs, as being overly selfish can be just as damaging as being overly selfless. But, if you take it upon yourself to do what you want to do more often, you’ll feel liberated, and here are a few reasons why.

It’s Not Illegal to Follow Your Dreams

This is a lesson that a lot of people need to learn. It is not illegal to follow your dreams unless of course, your dreams involve robbing a bank or something similar. For most, their dreams involve fame, (legal) fortune, and happiness. They involve a chance to get away from the humdrum of everyday work and find joy in the world. While this is easier said than done, it’s still important to take steps towards achieving your dreams. The sooner you realize you can do what you want with no consequences, the freer you will feel.

People Don’t Care As Much As You Think

Many people often hold themselves back because they are worried about what other people will say. However, no one cares as much about you as you think they do. They don’t care if you play the ukulele in your spare time. They don’t care if you are plotting an epic seven-part fantasy series that is inspired by your office dynamic (well, they might, but barely). Learning that people are more involved in their own lives rather than anyone else’s can give you the impetus to do what you want without fear of judgment.

You Can Find Your People

Everyone wants to find the people who get them. Identifying your people is one of the best things that can happen in life. Many people will settle for a group of friends out of convenience or fear, especially as they get older and making friends becomes more challenging. But, following your dreams and doing what you want will give you the chance to find your people. These are the people who share your interests and love the same things that you do. They are the ones you feel at home and comfortable around.

It Will Teach You About Yourself

Deciding to do whatever you want will also give you the chance to learn more about yourself. You might be interested in certain hobbies, only to find out that the hobby is not for you after a few weeks. You shouldn’t look at this as a failure, though. Instead, it’s a teachable moment. You may not have found your new passion yet, but you know what doesn’t work for you, and that’s arguably even better.

You Need to Learn To Be Your Own Friend

It sounds sad to be your own best friend, but you can’t expect anyone else to be your friend if you don’t first accept who you are and love yourself. People are much happier when they can spend time with themselves without being bored. It also gives them the confidence to pursue interests without the moral support of others. Whether it’s going to the movies or treating yourself to dinner, enjoying your own company is one of the most liberating experiences you can have.

It Keeps You From Getting Stuck In a Rut

Everyone will get stuck in a rut at some point in their life. They do the same thing day in and day out, and eventually, they will become bored to tears. If you take a step back and look at why you’re in this rut, you can make the necessary changes to get back out of the rut. This is your opportunity to do whatever you want whenever you want. It’s your chance to try something different. Whether it’s something you enjoy or not, it’s something you’ve never done before, and it can reset your life and push you from your rut for good.

Anxiety and Stress Will Disappear (Mostly)

We all have moments when stress and anxiety take control of our lives. When we’re in the midst of these moments, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But, enjoying whatever you want can help eliminate these worries, at least for a little while. You won’t feel as trapped as you once were if you know that you can get out of situations that are not good for you. While this doesn’t apply to everything, especially in your career, it’s still something to bear in mind the next time you feel overwhelmed by stress and anxiety in life.

You Will Be Happier

Perhaps the most important reason to enjoy doing whatever you want is to unlock the happiness that has always been there. Ignoring the negative voice in your head can help you finally realize who you are, and this will make happiness easier to obtain. Whether you’re looking for new hobby ideas here, or you want to test your athletic abilities, there is always something for you to explore no matter who you are or what you do. Whatever it is, doing something that you love will only bring positivity into your life.

Your Life

It’s your life and you can do whatever you want with it, within reason, of course. If this means spending more time by yourself to catch up on your dreams, then go for it. If it means lending a hand to those in need more often, then there is no one stopping you. This is the beauty of doing what you love. It can benefit you, it can benefit others, or it can do both. Whatever you decide to do to make yourself feel better, make sure you don’t worry about what others have to say about it.
