Idol Insider: Week One

Alright people:

The first week is over and tonight starts round two! So get ready to make your picks as we continue to build our Top 12. Last week was an interesting way to start out with over the top song choices and, well, Tatiana…need I say more?

At the end of week one, we have three of our twelve in Alexis Grace, Danny Gokey, and Michael Carver. Had I been able to hand pick I would have originally gone with Danny, Alexis, and maybe Anoop. Although, Anoop picked a horrible song that left most of the lyrical content to the background singers, so it was inevitable that he’d get axed. Ricky Braddy was actually good and showed promise. In fact, I could already see The Braddy Bunch T-Shirts sweeping the nation, but seeing as last Tuesday night was the first time we heard his name this season, viewers didn’t have any connection and he got ousted! And for those of you wondering who my top 3 were, it was really a toss up. Danny and Alexis were the obvious choices and Michael was a fan favorite – I went with that for points. Had I picked my faves: It probably would have been Ricky, Alexis, and Danny. With the hopes Anoop would return.

And for those of you Anoop fans, don’t give up yet. Word on the street is Anoop has already been tapped to perform on the Wild Card show. So that’s the good news, now the bad news: Tatiana is also rumored to be back! Oh, and I have to say that Danny is already getting on my nerves. I mean, I get his story and it is quite touching, but throwing the photos up during his over-hyped and overly-praised (insert Paula’s version of a “TOUCHDOWN” and Kara pounding her fists on the table here) version of Hero was a little bit too much! Plus, if you caught any of the interviews he’s been in since his performance you might notice that he even referred to himself as the obvious male choice this season. Hold on buddy, it’s only been one week. Let’s talk once you’ve made Top 2!

But, on to week two: Will Adam Lambert prove he’s more than a Broadway singer? Will Nick Mitchell come as himself or his wacky counterpart? And Will Kai remember his words or stumble like he did in Hollywood week? I guess we won’t know until we hear the fateful words: This….is American Idol.

Ciao!
