Three’s Company

The season just ended and already Idol contestants are getting signed to record deals. It comes as no surprise that Kris Allen would be signed to a deal, since he won this year’s competition, but it was confirmed this week that he will be joining Britney Spears, Ciara and fellow Idol, Jordin Sparks, on Jive Records. Kris announced his excitement in joining Jive’s roster, as well as saying he can’t wait to start work on his album, which will feature music much like what we heard from him on the show. Also, not surprisingly, Adam Lambert will be recording an album for release in the fall/early winter, which will feature a mixture of pop, glam rock, theatrics, and special guests. Lambert, who graces the cover of Rolling Stone this week, joins the artist roster on RCA, which also signed Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson after their Idol wins. And last, but not least, the most surprising announcement was that Alison Iraheta will join Kris Allen on Jive Records and will begin work on a record soon. Jive’s Chairman and CEO, Barry Weiss, said in a statement that “it didn’t matter where she ranked on Idol, we knew we wanted her to join our amazing crop of young talent at Jive.” In fact, Alison is the only Season 8 contestant to have an official website already up and running. It looks like Jive will put in some extra time to foster longevity for the youngest Idol to make the Top 12.

Also, check out this interesting tidbit: Lambert, Allen, and Iraheta were the three that were put through together in Group 2 of the Top 36. Something special must have been in the water that night. No offers yet for Top 3 finalist, Danny Gokey, but that isn’t really a surprise, seeing as he had the appeal of a younger version of Taylor Hicks. See ya on Broadway, Chokey Gokey!
