Shelly Fairchild Pledges Return To Music

    March 8, 2015 /

Remember when country music was still country? Before the days of cross-genre, country-pop, tailgate hits? It was a fantastic time for music, especially in Nashville. It was also a time when Mississippi’s Shelly Fairchild was about to break out as the genre’s hottest new starlet. In 2005, Fairlchild released her debut album Ride on Columbia Records and toured with some of the biggest names, including Rascal Flatts and Blake Shelton. Her single “You Don’t Lie Here” was a Top 40 country hit on the Billboard chart and her voice was unlike any others. Following the success of her debut, Fairchild switched gears –both personally and professionally– and released the soul/rock record Ruby’s Money.…

Butchertown Hall: Welcome To The Neighborhood

    February 24, 2015 /

When Butchertown Hall previewed their menu last Spring at a neighborhood gathering, I was thrilled at the thought of a beer garden that served up delicious pork tacos — the option they were serving at the event — joining me in the growing Germantown area. So I anxiously awaited Butchertown Hall’s September arrival, but due to building delays and permit issues, the restaurant’s opening was delayed several times. Finally, on Valentine’s Day, the restaurant and beer garden opened its doors. A labor of love, no doubt. Having to put the stamp of approval on my new neighborhood haunt, I made my way in last Saturday for dinner. The beautifully designed interior was packed full of…

Honestly, did you even know I went anywhere? 🤣 January was a weird month, y'all. After a horrifying attack on our democracy and the continued divide of our nation, I needed a mental break. Did I get it? Nope. On January 12, I tested positive for Covid-19 (two days after the onset of my first symptoms). After playing it safe, socially distancing, wearing my mask, and following CDC protocols, I contracted the virus that I spent nearly a year afraid of getting. I still don't know where or how I got it, but I did. And that sh!t is very real! 👹

After a lot of sleep, puppy pile-ons, an overnight hospital stay, fevers peaking at 107 degrees, an added pneumonia, a ton of love from my friends and fam, and a hit to my immune system's ego, I am back! 🙌

I don't share this update for sympathy, but simply to remind you all that this global pandemic is real. It can impact anyone at any time. And it impacts us all differently. The good news is we have really some easy ways to avoid getting or spreading this virus in our country. Stay home if you feel any cold or flu-like symptoms. Get tested (even if you feel fine). And wear a mask, goddammit. 😷

Most importantly, stop living in fear and start living informed. We will get through this if we work together! ♥️
