Research suggests that most men are not body confident. While we tend to associate a lack of confidence and pressure to look good with women, it’s incredibly common for men to worry about their image and their physique. Exercising is a natural remedy for boosting mental and physical health, and it can also work wonders when it comes to increasing confidence and improving self-esteem. Be realistic about what you can achieve

When you read about getting fit and supercharging motivation levels, you often come across articles advising you to set goals. Establishing objectives and working towards targets is a great way to get into exercise and maintain motivation, but it’s critical to make sure that you’re realistic about what you can achieve. Have confidence in your ability, but don’t give yourself an impossible task. Trainers can plan bespoke regimes based on your requirements and your fitness goals, and you can learn how to undertake specific exercises to achieve your objectives. To build strength and definition and burn calories, your trainer can show you how to master lifting weights safely, how to perfect the high pull for power and how to combine cardio and resistance training to burn fat and add muscle mass. You might also wish to take a buddy along if the thought of joining a class or strolling into a gym filled with lycra-clad individuals who look like they’ve been sculpted by an ancient Greek artist is putting you off. 

Focus on yourself

Human beings are programmed to compare themselves to others, but in the world of fitness, this can be harmful. If you’re not exactly thrilled with what you see in the mirror, being surrounded by people who have been working out every day for years can make you feel inadequate and unattractive. It’s easier said than done, but try to focus on yourself, rather than others. Think about why you want to get fit and remember that everyone has to start somewhere. Don’t dwell on the imperfections or flaws that you see when you look at yourself and bear in mind that nobody will scrutinize you as much as you scrutinize yourself.
