Elise Davis Makes The Kill With New Video
It was clear when I first heard Elise Davis play her undeniable single “Make The Kill” in a Nashville venue that this girl was destined for bigger things. Her talent for songwriting landed her the title in American Songwriter‘s “The Pub Contest” earlier this year. While the standout track “Make The Kill” paints a picture of Davis “high on the living room floor of this old party,” the song was always missing one thing: a video. Watch the premiere of Elise Davis’ “Make The Kill” below and find out more about the Nashville based singer-songwriter here.

Danielle Bradbery’s ‘Heart of Dixie’
It’s been less than a month since 16-year old Danielle Bradbery was crowned the Season 4 winner of “The Voice,” but the upcoming country singer is set to release her debut single “Heart Of Dixie” next week. The single tells the story of a woman (not a girl), who leaves her dead end job, dead-beat husband and life behind in pursuit of a better life. Awfully grown up lyrical content for a 16-year old, who many predicted would be the female answer to Hunter Hayes. The fresh-faced teen’s first performance on a stage was her blind audition on the hit NBC series, so songwriting was no hold up in getting…

Video Premiere: Taylor Swift "Red"
Taylor Swift debuted her new video for the title track of her wildly successful Red album today, which features clips from her equally as successful tour. In the video for “Red”, Swift shows off her huge production and multiple costume changes from the set of her biggest hits, which serves as a great promotion for the remaining dates … if there’s any tickets left. Watch “Red” below and check out the entire album, featuring hits “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Never Ever Get Back Together,” and “22.”

First Listen: Kelly Clarkson "Tie It Up"
America’s first Idol, Kelly Clarkson, who has had multiplatinum success with pop anthems and power ballads, is tapping into her southern roots with her latest single “Tie It Up.” The singer first hinted at a promising country career when she teamed up with her childhood idol – and future mother-in-law – Reba on the country legend’s Duets record. Since then, the Texas-native has teamed with Jason Aldean for their massive hit “Don’t You Wanna Stay” and with Vince Gill on the single “Don’t Rush,” which appeared on her Greatest Hits album last year. Earlier this month, Clarkson took a break from recording her upcoming Christmas record to take the stage at…

Take 5: The CO’s Nate Fleming
We all love to know what inspires our favorite stars and we want to know what – or who – is behind our favorite lyrics. But why so serious all the time? Take 5 is Tragic Kingdom’s regular feature that sheds some light on the questions that you really want to know. Up next, V for Vetrano takes 5 with The CO‘s human drum machine Nate Fleming. Oh, and if you missed my full interview with the band, check it out here. Take 5 w/ The CO’s Nate Fleming 1. Where’s your favorite place to hang out in Nashville? Why? First Listen: The Civil Wars "The One That Got Away"
Nashville’s Cinderella story, The Civil Wars, were on top of their game: Grammy’s, praise from even the harshest critics and a hit album. Then, with very little notice, it was over. John Paul White and Joy Williams announced their hiatus late last year, which quickly spread, and it seemed the band who were about to secure their place in music history had ended. Earlier this year though, the band announced that their second album – the first on Sony Music – would indeed be released. And while fans and critics rejoiced, it was surely a question if the duo, who were clearly broken, would have the same chemistry that won…

What The GIF? Vol. 6
It’s that time of year again. For one (very long) weekend in June, Nashville is invaded by the fried-food loving, cowboy boot wearing country fans that flood the downtown streets in hopes of getting a glimpse of their favorite country superstars. Superstars who aren’t anywhere to be found other than their black SUVs and on the main stage at LP Field. But still, this long time tradition once known simply as Fan Fair is a Music City staple. Nashville residents – if not working the festival or with one of the artists playing the festival – typically take the long weekend to travel out of state or hibernate, catching up on…

Artist to Watch: Elise Davis
Where most artists wear their heart on their sleeve, Elise Davis wears hers in her emotionally-packed voice. The Little Rock native is making waves in Nashville’s music scene after winning American Songwriter‘s “The Pub Contest” — a hefty publishing deal with HoriPro Entertainment — which was judged by artists like Holly Williams and Hunter Hayes earlier this month. The year-long deal will be the first venture into co-writing for the solo-singer, who has written all of her previous efforts, and was honored to have been selected for the opportunity. Often drawing comparisons to the likes of Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams, Davis’ music has captured the attention of more than just…

Video Premiere: Five Knives, "Messin’ With My Mind"
Nashville’s latest success story, Five Knives, debuted their hot new video “Messin’ With My Mind” on MTVu this morning. The clip also landed on MTV’s Buzzworthy following its premiere. No surprise though, seeing that the band is on the road on the MTV Artist to Watch Tour with Twenty One Pilots. The single is the second from the electro-punk rockers EP The Rising and is my favorite tune to rock out to when I’m feeling aggressive. But you’ll have to download the track on the band’s website (or right here on Tragic Kingdom) because MTV’s version of the single comes overly-censored. So censored infact, a reference to popping pills gets…
